As you may be aware, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan is a voluntary, apolitical movement of national and international stature blending the thoughts, values and philosophies of the East and the West. According to its founder, the late Dr.K.M.Munshi, Bhavan is an adventure in faith, a faith in India’s past, present and the future. The Bhavan stands for the re-integration of Indian Culture. It tries to build a bridge spanning the past, present and the future and amongst all sections of the society irrespective of caste, religion or language.
The Thiruvananthapuram Kendra of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan was started in May 1987 and this year we will be completing 25 years of its glorious existence in the capital city of Kerala. During this short span, it has developed into a prestigious center of education and culture and has won appreciation from all sections of the public.
At present the Kendra is managing the following educational institutions.
The Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Senior Secondary School, Kodunganoor affiliated to CBSE with classes from LKG to Std.XII.
The Bhavan’s Vivekananda Vidya Mandir, Manvila affiliated to CBSE with classes from LKG to Std.XII.
The Kulapathi KM Munshi Memorial Vidya Mandir, Poojappura with classes LKG & UKG.
A unit of Rajendra Prasad Institute of Communication and Management, Mumbai conducting classes in Journalism (Evening College).
Keeping in mind that modernity should be the key word in our educational activities, attempts have been made to provide all the educational institutions under the Kendra the required infrastructural facilities.
As part of the Silver Jubilee celebrations we propose to construct a new building by demolishing Sankara Block, providing additional facilities like reflooring of Chemistry lab, starting a language lab, a mathematics lab, introduction of smart class, providing additional toilets etc, at Kodunganoor School and construction of a Primary Block and extension of the main building at Manvila School etc. All these projects would cost around Rs. 6 Crores.
To provide these additional facilities and also to realise the other avowed objectives of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan in sustaining the cultural and moral values, our financial resources are not enough for successful implementation of all these projects. Therefore, the necessary funds will have to be generated. We are sure that in transforming the above objectives into reality we will have the support of the philanthropic minded well wishers of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan.
We appeal to all our parents and well wishers to help us with liberal contributions to this Silver Jubilee Fund. All contributions to Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan will qualify for Income Tax exemption under Sec. 80 G 3 F of the Income Tax rules. Contributions of Rs.25,000- and above will qualify for 100 % tax exemption under Sec. 80 G of the Income Tax rules. We look forward to spontaneous and liberal help from all our well wishers. On this optimistic note let us conclude this appeal.
